Eat Tasty Treats at the Ice Cream Social

We hope to see you at the Springdale Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 25! The event kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and serving will continue until 6:30 p.m. Take the night off from cooking, savor some delicious food, and have fun connecting with friends and neighbors.

The theme is I’m Walking on Sunshine, and we’re hoping for a beautiful day that’s perfect for enjoying ice cream! Other tasty treats on the menu include assorted homemade pies, our famous barbecue, potato salad, baked beans, chips and beverages.

The cost is $12, and ages five and younger can eat for free.

If you can bake a pie, make potato salad or help at the Ice Cream Social, please contact Sherri Hefty. Thank you to Sherri, Jen Joppa and Gracie Reynolds for co-chairing this special summer event!

New Website and Branding Project Completed

The new Two Steeples Parish website was unveiled along with the new branding. The goals for the new website were to create a site that functions well, provides easy navigation, looks professional, shares relevant information, is welcoming, and is secure. Kay Midthun worked with our web developer, Matt Schlueter, to create the website. Matt did excellent work on the project.

Matt’s company is Startec Web Solutions in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Matt has a long history with us, having started working with the parish when his wife was the church secretary in about 2004. He also worked with us to create the previous two websites.

Thanks to everyone who contributed photographs that we were able to use on the new website. Those we’re aware of at this time are Amy Slaney, Bob Hanson, Gary Bakken, Jen Joppa, Kay Midthun, Mary Arnold, Pat Ranney and Sherri Hefty.

As for the branding project, it includes a color palette (specific current colors that fit well together and we can use consistently to convey our “brand”) and a new logo. We should continue to use the same specific colors for all our marketing, stationery, etc. Please contact Kay if you have any projects that need our logo or colors so we can ensure we’re using the correct colors and that the logo is clear, so that the community can recognize our brand at a glance.

Our new logo:

In addition to the cross, the logo conveys the light of the resurrection of Jesus (above the cross) and the Living Water we receive through Jesus (below the cross).

If you have any questions, please contact Kay.

Reaching Milestones

“Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the honest of heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, and give thanks to God’s holy name.”Psalm 97-11-12

Recently, I participated in baccalaureate and graduation at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. This year, there were 51 graduating students at Wartburg in the M. Div, M.A. and TEEM programs of study.

Family and friends were gathered together for a wonderful weekend of a dinner, worship and the graduation ceremony, which was held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. This was truly a blessed and wonderful weekend for all the students, families, and the church and ministry communities they will be serving in.

I am truly grateful to my family, friends and church community at Two Steeples Parish for all their prayers, encouragement and support over these past four years.

I continue moving toward ordination as an ELCA Pastor. It is really good to see the light at the end of the tunnel of the learning journey in the TEEM program. As for now, I continue serving as your TEEM Vicar at Two Steeples Parish. I am presently looking at an Ordination in late September, to which all of you will be invited.

I wanted to say congratulations to our two High School seniors, Cayden Slaney and Emma Ringgenberg, on their awesome accomplishment of graduating from Mount Horeb High School! Also, congratulations to Brock Bigler, as he recently graduated from college at UW-Whitewater!

We all have much to celebrate and be thankful for in 2025.

Peace and Blessings to all of you in Jesus.

Join Us in Honoring Our Graduates

We’ll be recognizing Cayden Slaney, Emma Ringgenberg, and Brock Bigler and his girlfriend Allena’s graduations on upcoming Sundays and hope you will be there to join the celebrations. Cayden and Emma, who graduated from Mount Horeb High School, will be honored during the worship service at Springdale on June 29. We’ll be feasting on tacos after the worship service and Fay will be providing a cake.

Brock graduated from UW-Whitewater in Finance and Allena earned an MBA from High Point University in North Carolina. Both will be honored at the worship service at West Blue Mounds on July 13. Brock is having his tonsils out shortly before June 29 and will need time to recuperate, so that’s the reason for two celebrations. Please pray for a speedy recovery for Brock. More details about Brock and Allena’s celebration will be provided closer to the date.

We also congratulate Jim on his graduation from Wartburg Theological Seminary. We recently celebrated his milestone at West Blue Mounds.

Congratulations to all the graduates on their accomplishments!

Installation of New Carpet is Underway

As you may have heard, a project is underway at Springdale to replace the carpet in certain areas of the church. The project was important to keep our church well maintained, safe and welcoming. Our carpet cleaner said a few years ago that no amount of cleaning could fix the many stains in the carpet from years of wear.

Thank you to Amy Slaney for suggesting this building improvement and for her extensive work on the project while on Council, to John Arnold for his many efforts in getting us to the finish line, and to both the current and previous Councils for their support. A special thanks to Endowment for funding this important investment in our church.

Upstairs

  • Carpet tiles were installed upstairs in the new Fellowship area and in the hall by the offices. The narthex is also getting a facelift with new carpet and nonskid vinyl tile right in front of the entrance doors to facilitate easy cleaning.

Downstairs

  • Carpet tiles are being installed downstairs in the Fellowship Hall and at the bottom of the back stairs, which will make it easy to replace a tile if it’s stained or damaged. One new feature will be vinyl tile next to the kitchen counter in the Fellowship Hall and under the area we place the serving table, which will minimize the risk of stains.

Stairways

  • Regular carpet is being installed on the back stairs and on the stairs in the new entrance (based on the current plan) since tiles cannot be used.

Work is expected to be finished before the Ice Cream Social if all goes according to plan.

Outdoor Worship to Be Held at the Bigler Farm
