Help Needed for Norwegian Dinner
As previously announced, our Norwegian Dinner will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. It promises to be a fun event and will celebrate our parish’s Norwegian heritage.
We will be serving Norwegian meatballs, gravy, red potatoes, corn, peas, cranberry salad, lefse, rolls, krumkake and assorted desserts.
Help will be needed on the following days and times. The days we can use your help the most will be Friday and Saturday. Please choose which days and times will work for you. Whatever help you can provide will be appreciated.
Monday, September 21, (9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.) – Making lefse
Thursday, September 24, (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.) – Making krumkake
Friday, September 25, (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.) – Making meatballs and decorating
Saturday, September 26
- Food prep and set-up – (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
- Serving – (4 p.m. – 7 p.m.)
- Clean-up – (6 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
Sherri and Kay are co-chairing the event, so please contact either of them if you can bring a Norwegian dessert or a regular dessert, and/or volunteer. We’re looking forward to the camaraderie and appreciate you sharing your time and talents!
Seasons of Life

Psalm 8:1
With September comes the end of summer days. For kids and adults, the end of summer means a big change, with back-to-school schedules and getting ready with new school supplies, clothes, and a new school year.
The end of summer days also brings seasonal changes. Long summer days become shorter in autumn and the weather begins to feel cooler. Soon, the colors of trees will begin to change from summer greens to vibrant fall colors of yellow, orange and reds. The sights and smells of autumn in Wisconsin will soon be here.
All these changes can be exciting times for kids and families, but a change of seasons may also bring uncertainty.
Psalm 8 talks about how God created all things, and highlights the beauty in God’s wonderful creation.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.”
Psalm 8:3-5
We can trust in the promises of God, because God loves you and all the people in His good creation. Together we journey through the changes of the seasons and of life.

Gearing Up for the Springdale Car Cruise
One of the best ways to enjoy beautiful autumn sights is a ride through the countryside, and the Fall Car Cruise will do just that. The Cruise is set for Saturday, October 10, with registration starting at 8 a.m. at Springdale. Registration is $15.
Cars will depart at 10 a.m. on a picturesque journey through Cross Plains, around Indian Lake and over to the Hyde Mill area.
Proceeds from the Car Cruise will help fund the 2027 Springdale Car Show.
Celebrate with Fay and Jim
We’re pleased to officially announce that Fay Dahlgren is retiring after 14 years as Parish Secretary! Jim Dahlgren has lent a hand behind the scenes and they have made a great team. We thank both Fay and Jim for their countless contributions and their commitment to Two Steeples Parish! The retirement date has been set for October 30.
We’ll honor Fay and Jim at a special Fellowship after the worship service on Sunday, October 18. Please plan to join us for the celebration!
Sherri, Kay and Sue will temporarily fill in for Fay in November and December. After that time, there will be interviews of applicants for the role and a replacement will be named.
Rain Couldn't Dampen the Car Show
Despite a forecast for significant rain and some mist and light raindrops throughout the day, the 2026 Car Show hit the finish line with some impressive numbers. This year’s show ended with:
- The most sponsors we’ve ever had
- The most door prizes and silent auction items ever
- 53 cars (a good turnout for a wet day)
- Sellout of food tent items
There were fewer registrants and spectators, but people stuck around, not intimidated by the sprinkles. With our proceeds, we expect to be able to present a check to Custom Canines for several thousand dollars!
A lot of prayers were said for decent weather, and those prayers were answered. It was a comfortable, cool day with a pleasant breeze and we stayed relatively dry. And, a few minutes after we got everything carried back into the church after the show, it poured!
Kudos to Car Show Committee members Sherri Hefty, Mike Reynolds, Amy Slaney, John Arnold, Mary Arnold, Paul Elver, Bob Hanson, Tom Magnuson and Kay Midthun. Thank you to our many volunteers for another excellent Car Show. It couldn’t happen without you!
Soup & Sandwich Supper coming in October
Before we know it, cool watermelon, popsicles and other summer treats will be in the rearview mirror and give way to hot, savory soups. We’ll soon be gearing up for the Soup & Sandwich Supper, scheduled for Wednesday, October 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. Stay tuned for more details and consider whether you may have something to provide for the Bazaar, such as jelly, home canned goods, baked goods, pie, crafts, photo cards, etc. Save the date!
